T1 tumours are subdivided according to whether there is involvement of < one half of the myometrial thickness (T1a) or ≥ one half of the myometrial thickness (T1b).
T2 tumours invade the stroma of the cervix.
T3 tumours invade the serosa or adnexa (T3a), or vagina or parametrium (T3b).
T4 tumours invade bladder mucosa or bowel mucosa.

The regional lymph nodes of the body of the uterus are defined in the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual(1) as:

Obturator
Internal iliac (hypogastric)
External iliac
Common iliac
Para-aortic (involvement of these nodes defines N2 disease)
Presacral
Parametrial

FIGO staging

The FIGO staging corresponds to the T stage up to stage T3b and assuming no metastases or lymph node involvement. With N1 disease, the FIGO staging is IIIC1 and with N2 disease the FIGO staging is IIIC2. Stage IV disease is subdivided into IVA (T4 tumours) and IVB (those with metastases).
