This calculator uses linear interpolation between two points of either the Brush or Stuart data. Means and z-scores are given when the chosen comparator is mean bone age at that chronological age. I leave it up to the user to decide which comparator to use. Many organisations use Stuart data and chronological age or Brush data and chronological age, but I used Stuart data and mean bone age/adjusted chronological age. The difference between mean and chronological age is less marked when using Stuart data, but the underlying population were more socioeconomically disadvantaged. Please see the Greulich and Pyle Atlas (1) and Gaskin et al. (2) for an indepth discussion.
