Figure derived from data presented in referece (1). Polynomial curves have been fitted through data with a three group moving average standard deviation for females only. The data are limited by very small numbers at some ages. The results are only approximate and consideration should be given to adult splenic sizes - certainly this tool cannot be used in adults. I would suggest a cut off of 12 cm in females 16 years old and above, consistent with Rosenberg et al (2) and an upper limit of 13 cm for males at an age according to your discretion. The intercepts have been constrained to better fit with references 1-3.
